Sue Williams has been exhibiting nationally and internationally for over 20 years, achieving international acclaim when  shortlisted as the only British artist for the Artes Mundi International Visual Art Prize 2006, selected by Ivo Mesquita, curator for Projecto Octogono, Pinacoteca do Estado, Sao Paulo, Brazil and Deepak Ananth, curator and lecturer at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, Caen, France. Previous to the Artes Mundi I received the Gold Medal Award, National Eisteddfod, Wales and the Rootstein Hopkins, London Painting Award in 2000. 

In 2006 her solo exhibition ‘small talk, high heels’ curated by the Glynn Vivian Gallery, Swansea, Wales subsequently touring Wales; the National Galleries, in both Bulawayo and Harare, Zimbabwe; the Ormeau Baths Gallery, Belfast alongside the Chapman Brothers.  She was invited to exhibit at the Shang Yunsu Art Gallery, Beijing in 2007.
